After your initial sign-in—so long as your information remains unchanged—for subsequent sign-in you need enter only your email address at your news outlet in the appropriate box and click Sign-in.

If your beat changes, simply enter in your email address at your news outlet, choose the beat you now work, and click Sign-in.

If your email address changes, refill in all five boxes.

Freelance Journalists

At the bottom of the Religionsource home page, there's a Freelancers link taking you to a request that you email us the information below.

  • your name and phone number
  • the name of the news outlet you are on assignment for, or names of the outlets with which you will try to place your story
  • citations for at least two other articles you've had published

Journalism Professors

If you are a journalism professor teaching a course that includes writing on religion, send us an email requesting authorization to search Religionsource. Include your full name, your faculty position and the name of your institution.

If you are a journalism professor teaching a course that includes writing on religion and you would like to authorize your class to use this database, email us with the following: your name, position, email address, and phone number; the name of the course and of your institution; and a list of the names and email addresses of the students in your class. (We require this process in order to deter general students or members of the public from bothering scholars with queries that are more appropriately answered by visiting a library.)

Journalism Students

At the bottom of the Religionsource home page, there's a Journalism Students link taking you to a request that you send your journalism professor (or the faculty advisor for your school's news outlet) an email that includes your email address, phone number and school, and the name of the course (or outlet). Ask the professor to add his or her name and faculty position to your email and to forward the email to source@religionsource.org.

If months ago you received authorization that worked, your authorization may have since expired (student authorizations are valid for six months). Request a renewal of your authorization using the same process you used for your original authorization.

Scholars

If you are a scholar seeking tips on being effective with the news media, you do not need to sign in. Simply click on Scholars Only in the menu bar at the top of any Religionsource page.

To sign in, go to the Scholar Sign-In page. If you receive an error message in response to your attempt to sign in, make sure you have followed the directions on that page and correctly entered your Username and Password. If you continue to have difficulty signing in, please contact us.
